You do not have to spend tons of money on pre made party decor to make a celebration feel special. You can often make items yourself, and cheaply. I have a few staple items on hand and use them along side a few add ons to personalize my parties.
Here are a few staples that I like to have for parties:
- White square or rectangular serving places in various sizes
- Mason Jars in various sizes
- Ribbon in various colors
- Brown paper bags
- Chalkboard Paint
Here is an example on how you can use simple items to create a fun festive, do it yourself party decor!
I normally add a splash of color to each party I throw by purchasing $1 disposable table clothes at Dollar Tree, as well as fun colored napkins. A little bit of color goes a long way.
The hanging banner is made from brown paper bags cut into triangles, and ribbon. Super easy! From a distance, it looks really nice and it was so easy, and not to mention cheap to make!
I like to dress up things with ribbon, twine, burlap. The jars, and such have a little extra fun and it was so easy.
Chalk board paint is really in these days! I love it because it’s very versatile. You can personalize chalkboards with anything! I picked up the letter “M” on clearance for $1 and painted it black to write on. Super simple, yet very personal. Also making smaller signs to label the fool gives it a fun pop. I made my own fun chalk board plate. I bought the plate at IKEA for $5 and painted it. Super simple to do.
Get inspired, get craft, and SAVE MONEY on your next party!
My daughters birthday party is this weekend and I’ll be doing a post next week showing how we saved on decor by doing it ourselves! The theme of that party is Frozen…so you won’t want to miss out on reading that post and seeing those picts!
