My family loves smoothies and we also love homemade breakfast! Two things that got a juicy kick this past week! The TexaSweet Texas Star Grapefruit have arrived at Whole Foods and are the juiciest ones I’ve tried yet!
I personally eat grapefruit as a breakfast addition or snack a few days a week. The health benefits are so wonderful. They are full of yummy vitamins that help breakdown food and aid in good digestion!
For our breakfast, I cut one in half and showed my girls how to eat it that way. We had bagels and cream cheese, and then worked together to make the yummy smoothies that you see pictured above. The kids took turns juicing the grapefruit. Each grapefruit produced a full cup of juice. After we made one round of this recipe (below), we made a second one and froze them in ice cube trays for use at a later time. (I am thinking these will make rockin popsicles this summer too!)
- 2 Grapefruits
- 1 c. strawberries (I used frozen)
- 1 med banana
- 5 oz strawberry/banana yogurt (I used greek)
- 2 tbsp Honey
I tossed it all into my Ninja and out came the creamiest, most wonderful flavored smoothie!
You can find the Texas Star Grapefruit on sale at your local Whole Foods Market. You can pay $0.99/lb or get 15 lbs for just $9.99. The bag is a better deal for sure! These are GIANT in size…bigger then a softball!
*I was sent a Whole Foods giftcard and a box of these yummy grapefruit to create my family a yummy meal for the purposes of this review. We will be doing this brunch again soon.
