Are you ready for some Football? (+ Giveaway)

I have partnered with P&G, Family Dollar, and Pepsi to bring you this post. All opinions are my own and are honest.

cowboys

Are you ready for some football? We are in our house! My hubby is a Cowboys fan, so we decided to throw a game day party to get in the spirit. They are currently one and one, and need us to cheer them on to more victories!

Game day food is fun to make, and doesn’t have to take a lot of time. I grabbed the crockpot to make yummy Pepsi pulled pork sandwiches. (That recipe is coming on the blog soon!)

Erin Condren Life Planner Calendar Review

316872662_CI_life_planner_quote-3
If you have been thinking about getting a Life Planner calendar, then you might be interested in ordering one from Erin Condren! I have been using my iPhone for several years now and was not sure I wanted to go to a paper form calendar until I looked at one week and how crazy it is with my kids school and sports schedules.

Here is my video review. (I like to see what I getting before I order….especially when it’s something I plan to use daily for over a year!)

I love my Life Planner and plan to keep using it daily and hoping it keeps me organized and on top of things. The only thing I wish I could change about it is the size. It doesn’t fit into my small purse. Guess I could get a bigger one!

Sign up for emails from Erin Condren and you just might get a coupon code to save money on your first order!

Doc McStuffins: School of Medicine now on DVD

4D04D03A-40D4-414F-9B79-B15FDE6FDE2C
We have been huge Doc McStuffins fans for a while now! We had a full circle moment while watching the new Doc McStuffins: School of Medicine this week. In this series of shows, Doc tackles several things that are worrisome for kids. She plays an optometrist, helping her stuffed owl toy, Professor Hoostburgh, to see clearly again. She also plays as a dentist, and last as a radiologist, taking an inside look at Daisy’s arm after a Roller Disco fall.

Maci, my 6 yr old has a broken leg. When we went to get her leg x-rayed, she freaked out. She didn’t know what they were going to do and the fact that they wouldn’t let me sit with her, scared her even more. If she would have seen this Doc McStuffins DVD before going, she wouldn’t have been so scared!

This one ends with Doc spraining her own ankle. How will it end? Who will take care of Doc? You will have to watch to find out.

You can order Doc Mcstuffins: School of Medicine for just $12.96 right now on Amazon! This DVD runs 120 minutes.

Enjoy a quick Tropical feast at Pollo Tropical

Screen Shot 2014-09-07 at 5.15.26 PM

Pollo Tropical just opened two new restaurant locations in Frisco. We have watched one of them from the ground up. (It’s located by Costco!) We have wondered what this new restaurant would offer and couldn’t wait to try it ourselves.

We were invited to stop by and enjoy a meal on their opening day…and so we did! It was super busy and their staff was working hard and efficiently to serve everyone is a quick and orderly manner. The ambiance in the restaurant is awesome. Bright colors, well lit and there are two stations that are self serve…the drinks and the sauces. There are ten different sauces to choose from…and we tried them all! (More on that in a bit!)

As we were in line, we could see the chicken on the grill. I love the big open window that allowed us to watch the food prep process! Pollo Tropical features tangy flavors of the Caribbean, Savory island spices, mixed herbs and citrus blends. Menu options include TropiChops, sandwhiches, salads, wraps, kids meals and family meals.

I tried the TropiChop with brown rice, lettuce, and chicken breasts. I topped it with a very creamy Cilantro Garlic sauce. Steve had a Calypso Beef Wrap that included grilled onions and peppers and he paired it with Spicy Poyo-Poyo. I also enjoyed the Mango Iced Tea. We are very excited to go back and let the kids try the kids meals!

I love that the options were healthier and made fresh to order.

If you want to try it, you can go sign up for Pollo Rewards loyalty program and you will get a coupon for either a buy one get one free quarter chicken with two sides or $3 off a family meal.

Motivating Kids to get Fit with Leapfrog and CLIF Kid Bars

I received free products in order to host the Leapfrog and CLIF Kid sponsored MommyParty. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Leapfrog

I have owned a Fitbit for over a year now and my kids know that I have to keep moving in order to get my steps and achieve my goals. They love to “motivate” me with cheers and taunts to keep going. It’s been fun to see them get excited about it! I even got my 9 yr old, Chloe, a Fitbit to use this summer. She was able to earn rewards based on her activity. She loved it.

leapband-activity-band_19263_1

Although I didn’t think the Fitbit was really geared for her, it worked on getting her moving. Then I heard about Leapfrog’s new Leapband and grew very excited about getting the girls one! Leapfrog has been a great source of educational toys in our home for many years. I knew it would provide my kids with fun, paired with motivation to be active. The Leapband allows kids to earn rewards based on activity. This activity tracker encourages active play and healthy habits with 50 fun challenges.

Screen Shot 2014-09-07 at 5.11.29 PM

When I saw that there was an opportunity to host a Leapfrog Leapband party, I signed up! I was so excited to get selected. Along in the party kit, I received boxes of CLIF Kid bars. My girls love them and they were a great fit for our #FitMadeFun party!

We invited friends over to get moving with us. They came and we played and did several activities, including a mean game of leap frog and simon says. The kids all enjoyed learning about the Leapband and eating the CLIF Kid bars. We had several competitions where kids could win a box of CLIF Kid bars to take home.

Overall, the moms were excited about this new tool to encourage their little ones to keep moving. Here is more information about the Leapband and the CLIF Kid bars! I highly suggest you grab the Leapband NOW if you like it. I’m guessing it will be one of the hot gifts this holiday season! They have pink, blue, and green ones!

You can currently order the Leapband from Amazon for just $39.99!zbar_11_new-ccwrap

CLIF kid bars are sold Walmart, Target, Sam’s, Costco and other locations. You can click here to find a store near you.

Spending More time with Family, thanks to Cascade Platinum

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Cascade. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

IMG_3523

I am so tired by the time dinner rolls around each evening that I just can not fathom doing one more thing. Unfortatually this often means that the dishes sit out over night. I can get them done in the morning after the kids are off to school and Steve is at work. In the past, that meant that I would need to scrub them down as food had sat on them all night.

And then things changed for me! A friend told me to try Cascade Platinum as it includes a special enzyme that latches onto foods, breaking them down to wash them away…leaving dishes clean and sparkling!

DirtyPan

I was recently asked to host a Cascade Shining party. This was a fun get together with friends and we got to enjoy talking about “short cuts” that help save us time. Precious time that we need to spend with our kids or hubby! At the party we enjoyed some homemade Mac n Cheese and Brownies! Two things that leave dishes nasty and in need of a good scrubbing.

As my guests left, I sent them home with some Cascade Platinum and Cascade Platinum Rinse Aid to test out! Here are their before/after pictures!

Seven Days of Healthy Smoothies with Ninja Ultima

*I was sent a Ninja Ultima for the purpose of this review and blog series. All opinions are my own and are honest!

smoothies

I have been making smoothies for over a year now and I have not found a blender that I really loved. I started with a single sized hand blender and it wasn’t at all powerful enough to blend up my smoothies to a drinkable texture. I then moved to a bigger blender and it wasn’t powerful enough to blend my ice. I was getting HUGE chunks which wasn’t at all drinkable. I tried another chopper/blender combo and it wasn’t working either.  exclusive-offer-box1-interior

Since I drink between 3-5 smoothies a week, I needed something that would work well. So this brings us to this fun blog series…Seven Days of Healthy Smoothies made with a Ninja Ultima.

I love the Ninja Ultima for several reasons. The first is that it is super powerful. Within seconds I can blend my smoothies and the texture is perfect. I add spinach and my kids never know now that i use the Ninja. I love that I do not have to use the large pitcher attachment to make smoothies. I can make single serving sized smoothies. This is great for me as I normally make these for breakfast for myself after the kids are in school. The last thing that I love about my Ninja is the suction cups on the bottom. They help keep the Ninja right were I place it on the counter!

Starting tomorrow you will see the following smoothie recipes over the next seven days! Enjoy!

  • Strawberry Fuel
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter
  • Grapefruit Goodness
  • Peanut Butter Banana
  • Chocolate Cherry Fuel
  • Green Goddess
  • Triple Berry Blast

Back to School Savings with Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web

Going back to school is intimidating if you are at a new school. We have a foreign exchange student living with us for the next 10 months and everything is so different here then it was for her in Korea. I took her to enroll today and it was scary for me! Choosing classes and how the schedule changes on a daily basis and then add that one of the classes is off campus. Very hectic and confusing. Above and beyond that, we went to test out the code on the locker…and couldn’t get it unlocked! Janika doesn’t know ANYONE besides our family…and she barely knows us at that! We needed something to help us out! Something with Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web!

IMG_2924

We needed a way to connect and talk through out the day and Walmart Family Mobile saved the day on this one! We didn’t want to get locked into a long term contract, but needed the ability to text and call each other. We went to Walmart and headed over to the electronics department where we found the display that you see pictured above! We picked out the Alcatel One Touch Fierce on sale for $99.88. We are paying just $34.88/month Unlimited Talk, Text & Web service plan. With this phone, we also needed to purchase a $25.00 starter kit. It took less then 10 minutes to set up the new phone line. The Alcatel One Touch Fierce is very simple to use and has an awesome touch screen as well as a sleek design.

Screen Shot 2014-08-26 at 10.44.34 PM

This phone is great for our family because we never have to worry about going over on text messages or data. Janika is 15, and I am more then sure she will be texting up a storm before we know it. This phone is light weight and will easily fit into her back pocket. I love that it was a great price and the service is strong in our area…which means minimal dropped calls. If you are considering getting your kiddo a phone as they go back to school, this is a great one! Cheap, slim, and everything they need to stay connected. Screen Shot 2014-08-26 at 10.35.59 PM
