Here is Emma’s video review of the movie. Maci tried to do one…but she was too long winded and the video kept shutting off! :)

Getting Organized to go Back to School (+ Giveaway!)

I have partnered with Wall Pops to show you a fun way to get organized for Back to School! Plus they are providing a giveaway! All opinions are mine and are honest.

I have a space in my house that I like to keep all things school related. We try really hard to keep everything contained to that area! I have also this year, added a calendar to help keep us moving in the right direction and on the same page! With three kids, a husband who travels and my PTA and Gym schedule, I need to SEE what we have going on each day. My kids also enjoy seeing what we have planned.

To organize this space as a Back to School area:

I bought cheap hooks at Hobby Lobby for the girls. I found ones that had each kids initials on them. They know that this is where their backpacks must hang each night. All homework and books must stay in them as well. I have found that having a “home” for items makes me feel much more organized.

I was sent the Black Wall Pop Calendar to check out and we love it! It fits great on the back of our garage door and we can easily add to the schedule or erase off what is no longer needed.

We have our key hook on the last wall as a great place to keep them handy to grab just before we leave.

With school starting in a few short weeks, Wall Pops thought it would be fun to partner with me to giveaway one of these calendars as seen above to one of my readers! Leave a comment on this blog post telling us where you would put the Wall Pop and how it would help your family. Giveaway ends on 8/15 at 5PM CST.

Veggie Tales: Celery Night Fever…a lesson in Forgiveness

I have three girls, which means we have drama in our house! We talk a lot about friendship and forgiveness and how we need to love others in our house!  Veggie Tales has a new movie coming to DVD on Aug. 5th and we got to preview it! Celery Night Fever was sent to us and my girls were excited to do a video review for you about the movie! (As seen above!)

In this fun Veggie Tales movie, Laura Carrot and Junior Asparagus help the once popular Groovy Brothers band members learn how to work out their past differences in order to reunite and put on a concert in efforts to save Celery Park.

For fun recipes, crafts and activities related to Celery Night Fever visit Nothing beats an afternoon full of crafts and laughs with your kids as you teach them the values of friendship.

Beat Summer Boredom with Beados

Moose Toys has re-launched a fun toy for kids everywhere, Beados. We were sent a Quick Dry Design Studio to check out and review. This is a super fun arts & crafts line that features adorable designs and characters out of beads. These awesome beads stick together with just a spray of water. Using the included beads and templates, kids design their Beados character, spray their design with water using the included spray bottle and watch their designs fuse together! Best of all, this one requires NO heat, no glue, no extra stuff! Every you need comes in the box. (Well almost, you will need water and two double A batteries.) Chloe had so much fun making this little dog! I have a feeling that we will be buying refills VERY soon!

Disney Planes: Fire and Rescue Hits opens on July 18th

Screen Shot 2014-07-16 at 9.34.32 AM

This sequel is just as good if not better than the original as Dusty, played by Dane Cook, goes through quite the journey of character development. Imagine getting too old to do the job you always loved. The heartache and disappointment of being beyond repair only gets pacified by a need that turns out to be more than expected.

The kids will be engaged with the high quality animation and adults will enjoy the plot and character development. Dusty has a new compadre in the heavy-lift helicopter named Windlifter and this character increases the quality of the movie immensely.

I love a movie that entertains and has a great moral lesson for the kids. Planes: Fire and Rescue does not disappoint and delivers on this goal. I am grateful my family and I saw it.  I recommend this movie to all audiences. It will be worth your time.

Check out this video clip:

We went to an instore DisneyStore event and my girls got to do tons of Planes activities. Check with your local store and see if they have some planned this week! (Totally worth your time!)

Family Game Night with #ZoursFace Fun #Shop #CollectiveBias

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

We try to take a weekend each month to enjoy a game night. I feel it’s great for our family to relax and laugh together. My girls really look forward to it. One of their favorite games to play is Bingo. It’s great for them all. My oldest is very competitive and my youngest is learning her numbers still! Throw in some Zours Mike Ike candy and we were set for a fun night! I love fun candy ideas!

We found the Mike and Ike Zours candy at Walmart. In fact, we went to a sampling and enjoyed trying this new sour candy! Here are some of our #ZourFace family fun moments instore!

You can find these in the candy isle for less then $1. Or maybe not! We grabbed the LAST box at our Walmart! My girls love the sour flavors! This new variety of Mike and Ikes Zours includes: Sour Lemon, Sour Green Apple, Sour Watermelon, Sour Blue Raspberry, and Sour Cherry. They were definitely sour! In fact, they bit me in the neck…you know…down below the ears! I have to admit that I too loved the sour watermelon best!

I knew exactly what we were going to do with them! (I am a smart mama…I don’t give my kids “free” candy…they earn it in our house!)

To make our family game night extra fun, we decided to play Bingo and replace the bingo markers with Mike and Ike zours candy. I told the girls that they could eat theirs IF they got a Bingo. This meant war to my oldest! She was serious business. My middle one was trying hard, and my youngest kept “running out of markers.” Pretty sure she was eating them through out the game! It was so much fun and the kids really enjoyed the fun (and tasty) twist to Family Game Night.

Could your family use Mike and Ike Zours to create a family fun night? We have a few other games that we could use them for. My youngest wanted to make candy necklaces as well. That would make a great craft for an older kiddo who could use a needle safely. The possibilities are endless!

Fun with Friends and Family at Hawaiian Falls

*My family enjoyed a fun day in the park as means to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own and are honest.

hawaiin falls

We enjoy going to Hawaiian Falls each summer! I love that it is extremely family friendly and I never have to worry about the music they play over head or other various inappropriate things that could be associated with water parks.

We were treated to a nice cabana by the wave pool, as well as a locker to hold all vaulibles. I love having the cabana as it affords us a place to spread out and relax, in the shade. Along with a cabana, you get a Cabana attendant that comes and takes your drink/food order…then delivers! It’s awesome, especially when you have little ones that you can’t leave unattended and you don’t have the hands to carry everything yourself!

We also had a cooler pass, which allowed us to bring in the things that we wanted to eat/drink while there. I packed myself yogurt, bottled water, and raw veggies with hummus. My kids were content ordering pizza and pretzels as well as Mini Melts (like Dippin Dots) and Churros. I also appreciated that Hawaiian Falls has Poweraid. I prefer getting non caffeinated drinks for my kids when possible! Keeping them dehydrated when they are playing in the HOT Texas sun is always a priority for me.

My 9 yr old loves going to Hawaiian Falls and going down the slides. She is a bit of a date devil and is always up for a challenge. I don’t think that there is one single ride there that she hasn’t ridden and loved. I love the mountains of stairs that she gets to climb…build in workout and she didn’t even know it!

My 7 yr old really enjoys rides that she can do WITH me. She was very content riding the two man rides and just playing with her (younger) sister in the kids area. She also really enjoys the lazy river. She is such a fish that if I am not careful watching, she will be half way around the lazy river before I know it! So much fun!

My 5 yr old is just starting to feel confident in the water. She took swimming lessons this year and I trust her in the water without a flotation device now. She really enjoyed playing on the giant pirate ship! I love that I can let her roam around it with confidence. She isn’t afraid of any of the slides on it and does a great job helping other kiddos up the stairs and such. It’s perfect for her or any other preschool aged child. We found that the lazy river was a tiny bit too deep for her to touch bottom and so she enjoyed floating around in a ring relaxing with me.

If you are looking for a day of family fun, consider Hawaiian Falls. There are 7 locations around Dallas and there are always deals for tickets. They have a very active Facebook page and send emails about upcoming events and deals often. Sign up here to get their emails and follow them on Facebook too. You can currently grab discount tickets for Hawaiian Falls at Tom Thumb, HEB, Costco, and Wendys.

Currently they have an Instagram promo going on! Don’t miss out! (Look for the signs inside the park with more info on this!)

Cruise around in a Lincoln MKC

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, then you know that I’ve had a Lincoln MKC the last few days! Grapevine Lincoln loaned it to me for the weekend to check out this new awesome luxurious ride. We picked it up on Thursday afternoon and were very quickly impressed with several features.

Some of the features that set this ride above the rest include: Lane keeping system, Vista roof, adaptive cruise control, hands free lift gates, auto start, auto fold power mirror, air conditioned seats and more.

We drove the MKC to celebrate the 4th of July with family and it was a very relaxing drive. The awesome adaptive cruise control allowed me to set the cruise and relax. I didn’t have to step on the breaks when a slower car moved in front of me. I simply set the desired car length at 4 and once I was within 4 car lengths of the car in front of me, the MKC slowed down. When they moved over or sped up, it did too! Too awesome. I also love the Lane keeping system. If the roads are clearly marked and I slightly veered, it would correct me. I wouldn’t call it hands free driving, but I didn’t have to correct it. (I was nervous to try it out, but once I did on an open road and saw how awesome it was, I was super impressed!) I could see this as a HUGE benefit for distracted drivers. I love that it not only correct me but that it also made a noise.

The hands free lift gate is sooo awesome. All you have to do is swipe your foot under the rear bumper and it pops open. This is especially great if you have your hands full!

Last, I LOVED the leather interior. It was so beautiful and luxurious. The only problem with leather…and black at that, is that the HOT Texas sun will warm it up really quickly! This is NOT a problem with the Lincoln MKC as you can use the auto start to cool things down and it has awesome air conditioned seats. You can turn them off or on. So awesome! I bet a Texan thought of that!

If you are in the market for a new ride and don’t want a car, but don’t want a huge SUV, then you will want to head over to Grapevine Lincoln and check out the Lincoln MKC. Truly, it is a very luxurious smooth driving Crossover and easily fits a family of five.

#AdventureCon14 Seaworld: Thru the eyes of Babes

*As a Seaworld Wildside blogger, my family was treated to a fun weekend in the park and free admission to AdventureCon14.

Screen Shot 2014-07-05 at 5.48.24 PM

Just like years past, my family really look forward to AdventureCon at Seaworld. This is a conference that Seaworld puts together for Texas bloggers. They always do a great job organizing speakers who have relevant and enriching content for us. They go the extra mile to provide opportunities for our families to come and enjoy time in the park as well as learning more about sea life thru their animal interaction programs.

This was was even better then I had imagined. The speakers spoke with great clarity and I enjoyed learning lots about Pinterst, Flipboard, Google +, Media outreach and story telling. After hearing about being unique in our story telling, I decided to let my girls have the waterproof camera to capture a day in Seaworld San Antonio and Aquatica from the eyes of babes.

They are little fish and spent a great deal of time in the new Roa’s Aviary in Aquatica. Here is a few thoughts that they wanted to share:

DSCN9371 DSCN9463

I thought the lazy river was cool and perfect for little kids as the water is not too deep. It was fun as they have tiki faces that squirt water as you go by and water falls that you go under. -Chloe, age 9

I loved the signs, they were so silly all throughout Roa’s Aviary. I also loved that just when you thought you wouldn’t get squirted, you did. – Emma, age 7

I loved how the water kept you moving in one direction. I also liked swimming below the birds. I could touch the bottom and that’s good because I am short. -Maci, age 5

Here are some of their thoughts of Aquatica as a whole:

I love how family friendly Aquatica is. It’s all about water play and my favorite way to spend time in Aquatica is feeding the Sting Rays thru the Sting Ray interaction program. – Chloe, age 9

I really like wave pool. The waves get so big. I like to build sand castles and watch the waves crash them. (You get 7 minutes before the waves start!) – Emma, age 7

My favorite thing about Aquatica is Sting Ray Falls. I can ride it with my family and it goes under a tunnel where Sting Rays are swimming over me. I also really like the Shamu shaped ice cream bar that my mom bought me there. – Maci, age 5

And there is SOOO much to say about Seaworld itself. I asked them to tell me what ONE thing they loved most about our visit that weekend and this is what they had to say:

As always, I personally love going to Seaworld. There is something magical about getting to see Killer Whales! I personally loved the chance to ask a SeaWorld Trainer all about Shamu. I personally asked about them getting back into the water with Shamu. I absolutely can not hold the tears back when I see the trainers working in unison with Shamu. Since Blackfish has been released, I have researched a ton about Killer Whales and Seaworld has been great about their response to the movie. They have helped point out the facts and I have signed the Truth Agreement in support of them. All of that to say that I love that the trainer was willing to answer ANY questions anyone had about their procedures or care of the whales. It was a treat to listen as she answered tons of questions with clarity and honesty.

I love how I can always count on Seaworld to provide education and entertainment to my family. We can relax and laugh while watching the Sealions show, or Azul, or we can learn more about sea life in an indoor aquarium, as well as interact thru various programs. We can also enjoy rides, let the kids play in slash pads, or relax inside one of their many delicious restaurants.

Watch for an upcoming post about Chloe’s Beuliga interaction at Seaworld.

Plan to attend Adventurecon next year…go here to sign up for more information.
