My oldest girlie turns 9 this week. I’m very sad about this…makes me feel SO OLD! She is definitely at an age where they has an opinion about EVERYTHING! I let her take the reigns and plan her birthday party and this is what she came up with!
We went to the #1 Birthday party supply site that we know of, Oriental Trading Co. and she searched around that fell in love with the “Girls Rock” party kits. The party kit included:
8 invitations
8 – 9″ party plates
8 – 3 1/2″ 9 oz. cups
16 luncheon napkins
16-pc. hot pink cutlery set
1 purple plastic table cover
2 rolls of streamers, 1 hot pink and 1 purple
12 each of purple and pink balloons
2 oz. of guitar confetti

Once she had picked out the theme, we discussed what we would do for the activity. She decided that she wanted to do some painting fun! Luckily, Oriental Trading also sells awesome art supplies. We ordered paint palettes, chalk board paints, and Martha Stewart Glitter Paints. I picked up the blank canvases locally and a few paint brushes and we were set!
The girls had so much fun painting a guitar and enjoying the treats! We painted a board in our backyard with the chalk board paint and used it to take photos of Chloe with her friends for the thank you cards! I absolutely love how everything turned out!

Such a great idea for an older child’s birthday party! While we loved the painting studio one we had last summer, I totally love your canvas idea to do at home! Those pretzel paintbrushes are adorable!!! Pinning!
