We were invited to see The Little Mermaid Second Screen Live showing and it was such a treat! This is the first time I have EVER been to a movie where it was encouraged to bring and play on your iPad during the movie! Before going, we downloaded the FREE Little Mermaid Second Screen Live app and once we got into the show and it started…the app sync’d with the movie and we were in full fledge action mode. I let all three kids do this on an iPad and I just watched and helped them when they needed. My 8 yr old and 6 yr old needed NO help. They knew what to do…even when I was a little confused by the haste instructions.
In fact, my 8 yr old ROCKED it and won 4th place out of everyone! She really enjoyed it. To be honest, I know we are in a generation where no longer is it enough to watch, and listen…but now we want to experience it. It made me a little nervous as I am so competitive, but my kids really enjoyed it. I think this is a great way to keep kids engaged thru out a movie and truly LOVED the sing along portions of this showing.
As for me…I go to movies to escape and relax and laugh… but I am hoping that Disney does more of these because it helped keep my kids engaged and entertained. They loved every minute of it and I felt as though the movie flew by so quickly. Truly a fun experience.
