We just moved into a new house and with the move, we decided to shop insurance to make sure we were getting the best deal. We found that we DIDN’T have the best price that was available and we made the switch. It’s funny how you shop when you set it up for the first time, then you just let it go. We trusted that we were getting the best deal the past five years, but we weren’t. I’m so thankful to have found a great deal and make the change.

Your home and auto insurance is the first place you should check.  According to Nerdwallet.com,  the average driver is overpaying by nearly $400 a year. That’s a lot!

But how do you find out if you’re paying too much?

You can use an independent agency, like Eagle Independent Insurance, and get an insurance checkup.

Here are four reasons why people are paying too much for their insurance, and why Eagle can help put an end to them:

1. Instead of shopping around yourself, you can answer a few questions and an Eagle agent will look for quotes for you to find you a better deal without  compromising coverage—all at no added cost to you.

2. People don’t know exactly what they’re buying. You shouldn’t be expected to be an insurance expert, yet many people buy policies directly from insurance carriers without any real guidance. As a result, people don’t know what they’re covered for, which can end up costing them. Using an independent agent gives you get an expert who can make sure you have the coverage you need without overpaying. Plus, you don’t pay extra for an independent agent, so there’s no reason not to use one.

3. People think there’s nothing you can do if your rates go up. That’s not true! With Eagle, if your rates go up, your agent automatically shops around for you to find you a better deal, so you don’t get stuck overpaying.

4. People think they can’t switch until the renewal period. Most people don’t realize that your home and auto insurance is not like your cell phone contract – you can switch at any time without a penalty. And if you’ve paid for six months or a year, you’ll get back the money for the unused time…So if you’re overpaying, you’re just wasting money by not switching.
