If you like movies that are seemingly implausible and turn out to be fascinating real-life stories, then you should definitely watch “Million Dollar Arm”. I am not much of a sports fan and I loved the movie. My husband who is a sports fanatic loved the movie as well. He came in with a skeptical mindset, and left a believer.
Spoiler Alert: The movie gives all the riveting details and storyline of two “non-athletes” from India who become major league baseball pitchers. The incredible accomplishment comes after a year long journey through maybe the first ever reality show and the revival of an agent’s career. The story of the pitchers is incredible, but the story of J.B. Bernstein, the agent’s, journey is remarkable. His story is one of career revival through an idea born out of desperation, and his love story is the midst of these roller coaster events.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this movie was the acting. It was so realistic and believable. It felt like this was actually their journey and the way the actors displayed the variety of emotion was flawless. A great additional feature of the film is how you can see so much of India during the events of the baseball tryout/reality show. This country girl has never been to India, and may never get to go. “Million Dollar Arm” gave me that bucket list tour and took me on a journey of a heartwarming story.
Your heart will be pushed to a variety of places as failure seems imminent for the agent and the lovable pitching prospects. The mix of humor in some of the most emotional moments is refreshing. I found it was safe enough to play in front of my daughters, which seems to be a rare find these days outside of the world of animation. It was a movie that my husband and I both enjoyed, which can be an even rarer feet. I highly recommend “Million Dollar Arm” to all sorts of families and individuals. Two thumbs way up!
