When I am driving, my mind is in 100 different places! Sometimes I’m thinking about what is going on in our lives, sometimes it’s what is going on in the world, and sometimes it is what is going on in the car.
My kids are totally different. They are constantly thinking about their little worlds. What is for dinner? Where are we going? What will you buy me? When are we heading home? Can we turn on my favorite DVD? Can everyone be quiet because I want to talk! They have a TON on their minds, but it’s very different then my hubby and me!
Recently I asked everyone to journal their thoughts during a 10 minute trip. Here is what I got:
Hubby: I wonder what job that man has to drive that car. Why am I always driving while Court gets to play on her iPhone. Am I seriously going to hit every single stop light? I wish the kids would be quiet and stop singing so loudly.
Oldest daughter: I wish I had headphones and unlimited wifi. Where are we even going? I wonder if we will get a snack while we are out and about.
Middle daughter: I want to have control over the radio, I wonder if the remote is just for the DVD player or if I can control the radio to. If it’s only for DVD, I wish they would fix that. And why do I have to sit in the very far back?
Youngest daughter: I’m starving. I hope we are heading to a restaurant. I would love some fries. Why won’t mom let me bring the ipad in the car?
Son: Here we go again… they strap me in and off we go. I want my pacie. Someone give me my pacie.
Me: Someday my car will be silent. I will be sad. I will miss the kids and the noise. I hope I get to tote my grand babies around. Wonder what is going on over on Facebook. I have three new emails? I just checked that when we left the house.
As you can see we all have very different things on our minds. We are all distracted in our own ways! This is how accidents can happen.
