Five Ways to Winterize your Vehicle

The colder months are coming…and temps are dropping daily! I am thankful for the change in weather, but it does require that I work to be prepared! Not only is it important that I pull out the winter coats, gloves, and jeans, but I must also work on winterizing my vehicles! Here are five things that I do that help prepare my cars for winter!

1.) Check the tires. I like to make sure I have plenty of tread for icy roads…or snow even!

2.) Load your wind shield washer fluid with washer fluid that includes an antifreeze solution. Look for the one that helps de0ice windows. This will prove to make melting the ice much quicker.

3.) Load blankets, gloves, and a few snacks in the car, just in case you do end up in your car for a while in the cooler temps.

4.) Check your Coolant to make sure you aren’t running low. This is very easy to do! You don’t have to pay someone to check it. Pop your hood and look for the coolant cap, then check and make sure you aren’t low.

5.) Check your battery. Some have a built-in hydrometer so you know the amount of voltage remaining in the battery. I had to replace mine recently… not cheap. I would rather know if it’s getting low then to be out and about in freezing temps and need a new one!

If your car is getting older, you might consider trading it in at Land Rover of Naperville!
