Renovating and other Home Improvement projects on a budget!

Houses are selling so quickly around here! A friend of mine is building a new house and she put her old house on the market. She had over 25 showings and 8 offers the first weekend it was on the market. That is CRAZY quick! To get the best offer, one should consider doing some home improvement projects. I have a love/hate with home improvement projects! If they are major ones that you are doing as you are getting your house on the market to sell, then you will likely do things you have wanted to do for a long time but just didn’t do. If they are projects that you are doing while you are continuing to live in the home, you will love the results and get to live with and enjoy them!

Big projects are not only time consuming but also costly. We did a full kitchen remodel, new floors, cabinets, counter tops. It was a BIG job. We did it while we were in transition in moving to our new house. We estimated it costing around 9 thousand…and the budget grew as we planned and dreamed. Having your finances in order walking into a remodel is very important. We also remodeled a bathroom. It needed updated lighting, vanity, floor and wall colors. It was less then $1000 and we loved the outcome and it definitely helped with the resale.

We have a few spaces in our current home that I would like to do a few things to! I would love to have some landscaping in the backyard. I would love something pretty to look at when we look out our windows. You can see that we need color and some sort of bush, shrub, or tree back there!

unnamed-4I would love to put railing on an open area above our front door and make it a reading nook. We have access to that area through a closet in our media room. It’s a great space, but goes unused. With a few book worms in my house, I think they would like being up there! And last, I would love to paint the kids rooms upstairs. Only one of these jobs is one that I can do myself, but it would take many hours!
