I live in my van…I wish I didn’t, but I do. I don’t mean actually sleeping in it, but my son definitely does takes naps in there from time to time. We are always on the go. To and from school, to and from softball practices or games, to and from the store, to and from church. We are a large family with 4 kids and we are in the van a lot! Thankfully I have a Chryster Town and Country and it has several spaces that help keep me organized.
It has two glove boxes. One we keep important papers in, the other gets the over flow of napkins. Even with all of the nooks and crannys of our van, we still find the need to step up our organization and think outside the box.
We have strict rules in our car that all food items must be removed at the end of the trip. There is nothing worse then claiming into the van and realizing that food was left over night. YUCK! Here are my top three outside of the box ideas that have helped us:
Take a Target bag and put one handle over the inside arm rest of the driver and one handle over the inside arm rest of the passenger. It creates a stable trash bag for any/all paper or trash. On long car rides, we take several bags and at rest stops we exchange them for new ones. This has been a huge lifesaver for us. It also doubles as a bag for dirty clothes, dirty diapers, or even the occasional sick kiddos. Reuse and enjoy this organized way to keep trash from tumbling all over your car.
Hand sanitizer in the cup holders. Each cup holder has a little bottle in it. This has saved us from sickness while we are out and about. We put it on as soon as we get into the van and before we eat if we are on a trip. It’s super handy for each person to have their own.
We have a compartment under the seats in the mid row of our van. It’s where the seats would go if we tumbled them down. We keep our emergency supplies in this compartment. We have a blanket, flashlight, crackers, bottled water, and our first aid kit. I have also tossed a few extra diapers and wipes in there as well for our baby.
