What do you do when you have a bunch of adults over to your house for some libations and good conversation? You breakout the card games of course! Grownup gatherings are times for adults to have fun away from kids, bosses, and normal obligations. If you’re expecting the gang, consider the following games for a bit of adult amusement.
Slash: Romance Without Boundaries
You get to be a fictional cupid in this game of pairing lovers. Take two fictional characters and explain why they would make a good couple. It’s a fantastic game for video game and comic book geeks. Of course, you’re in the company of adults, so your reasoning can get a bit bawdy.
Mad Scientist University
The judge of the game serves as the instructor and the other players are understood to be the students. Students draw cards in order to fulfill the obligations of their assignment. The aim is to concoct a silly way to fulfill the assignment using the drawn cards. Since the cards are random (lemonade, get something to eat, a rubber band, etc), it’s likely that each player will be challenged to string the words together in a story.
Mobscenity
Within each round, the Master plays two cards with non-offensive words like punch, chocolate, banana, etc, and combines them to make a phrase. Seems pretty harmless at first, right? Well, if you’re playing with people with a fantastic and screwed-up sense of humor, then what they write as the definition of the phrases will serve as the entertainment. This is one of those card games that is inappropriate for people under the age of 17.
Snake Oil
In this game, players must sell items based on a combination of randomly selected words. The judge will be playing a particular character such as a doctor, surfer, homeless person, etc. The person who makes the biggest impression on the judge is the winner. Once a winner is selected, that person becomes the judge and the former judge becomes a player.
Love 2 Hate
Again, players are out to please the judge the best they can. However, unlike the other games, in this one, players are completing the judge’s sentences. For example, a judge may draw a card that reads “hipster” and decides whether they like or dislike the identity. Players submit phrases that may be aligned with the judge’s opinion. Make the phrases as comical, awkward, or inappropriate as you want; you’re in the company of adults!
Say Anything
The judge selects a card with a question and players write down how they believe the judge will answer the question. After, all players reveal their answers and the judge chooses which one answered the best (in private). To add another wrinkle, players guess which answer the judge liked the best. Finally, the judge reveals which answer they selected as the winner, and points are allotted according to who had the best answer and who chose the answer the judge picked.
