The summer months are here and so is the hot summer sun! There are five things that I carry in my car in the summer that have saved me a ton of headaches in the long run.
1.) Bottled Water. I keep a few bottles under the seats incase we get stranded somewhere and need a drink. With the sun so hot, it’s easy to dehydrate. Having a few bottles in the car help me feel confident that we are covered. In fact, I have my kids take a reusable bottle of ice water everywhere we go all summer long.
2.) Sunblock. Again, protecting my family against the hot summer sun is key to keeping us healthy during the summer. In early spring we had a few times that the kids were at softball practice and they got burnt… it wasn’t that hot and I hadn’t considered the need for sunblock. Now we carry it in the van at all times and are well protected.
3.) Bug Spray. Summer brings the bugs and there is nothing more irritating then a million little bug bites. If we are going to be out and about at night, we like to spray our legs to protect ourselves. Having this in the van helps keep us covered when we need it.
4.) Snacks. Beyond getting dehydrated, my kids constantly want snacks in the summer. Could be because their bodies are sweating and they are constantly burning calories, making themselves hungry again. I like beef jerky as it’s high in protein and not a crumbly type snack.
5.) Towels. I use them in my van all summer. Our seats are leather and if I wear shorts or a dress my legs sweat to the seat and stick. It’s painful! The struggle is real!
