As my family has grown, my wish list in what I want in my car has too. There are things that are luxuries in my book and things that are “must haves!” In fact, when we went to buy our van, we knew there were a few things that we would not settle without. We were very upfront with our salesman about these things and he was great to help place us in a car that had everything we wanted. Here are the five must have features for a family car.
1.) Leather Interior – We can not relax with cloth seats with kids. There are just too many messes, accidents, or intentional artist moments for us to feel comfortable with cloth. Leather is easy to wipe down and mostly water resistant.
2.) Mid row bucket seats that tumble. This sounds like a big ask, but it’s really not. Having bucket seats in the middle row makes it easier for those who need to ride in the back to get in and out. The space in between the two seats gives more leg room and cargo space. And the fact that they tumble down allows for us to haul larger items if needed. Also with having the bucket seats, each person has full control over the recline, height and such. It makes road trips MUCH more comfortable.
3.) Sliding doors and Automatic Lift gate. We love this feature because it allows us to hit a button on our key fobs (or inside the van) and every door opens…helping the kids who are not always hands free to climb in. This is great for carpool as well. I love the auto lift gate as a mom because I can hit the button as I am walking to the van and my truck is open before I get there.
4.) Rear air control. Allowing the kids to control their own air has been really nice. There are times when I am freezing and they are hot. They can control their temps without me having to mess with it!
5.) Safety features. We love the back up camera on our van. It gives the extra sense of peace when leaving since we live in a very kid friendly area!
