Kids are messy… all of them! They don’t set out to upset you and leave chewy snacks smeared deep into the fibers of your new vehicles carpet. They don’t try to find every nook and cranny to drop crumbs. They don’t intentionally spill EVERY drink they get. They are just messy.
Because I know this and because I have four kids, I have banned the following five snacks from my van…forever!
1.) Crackers, chips and other crunchy snacks. This is obvious. My kids really make HUGE messes with chips and crackers and I can’t handle the clean up, so these are banned from my van!
2.) Sugary drinks. Think syrup! When these drinks get spilled, they are difficult to clean up. If they are spilled in the seat and it’s not leather, you have to get a carpet shampooer out to try to suction the sugary mess out. If it’s in the cup holder, it takes a lot of elbow grease to get that mess out…especially once it has dried a little.
3.) Fruit snacks or raisins. These wouldn’t be bad if just dropped and picked up…the problem comes when you step on them or when the sun melts them further into the carpet. GROSE.
4.) Gum… nope my kids don’t get to have that in my van either. It’s too big of a risky with kids who don’t keep it in their mouths.
5.) Sauces. When my kids get fries or other items that need dipped on the go…they either eat it sauce free or wait until we reach our final destination.
Some might think I am a mean mom for not allowing these things in my ride, but I think I’m within my reasonable mommy brain to keep that extra work off of my plate if possible. When you search out the perfect ride and pay good money for it, you want it to stay nice!
Thankfully, Hoffman GM has a great inventory of used vehicles that have been throughly cleaned and that are budget friendly for moms like me! Check them out online before heading in!
