My hubby and I have never really had to worry about our credit scores. We have been blessed to stay on top of our debts and haven’t really ever had any large dings. Since it hasn’t been a huge concern of ours, we haven’t really paid much attention to it. This past year, our report was pulled as we bought a new house. This gave us a chance to see what all was on our report and to see if there was anything we needed to change.

Most people I know applied and got accepted for many credit cards in college and are still paying them off today. Steve came from a family that had debt. It was just part of life. I lived with my great grandparents and since they lived thru the Great Depression, they only bought what they could afford…and never had debt. Or a credit card for that matter. So naturally when we got married, my savings paid off his debt. We spent our first 5 years of marriage living from paycheck to paycheck. It was stressful. Then we started using our extra money to finance infertility treatments. That was expensive. Thankfully we never got in WAY over our heads. (We were willing to do anything and thankfully God protected us and took things out of our hands!)

Of course after having kids we were “diaper poor” and made it work the best we could. Once our kids were out of diapers we were able to put a little into savings. We have added more and more and try to only buy what we can afford. While I am not an expert on how to improve your credit score, I am thankful to share this post with tips for you to read!
