I can’t begin to unfold the emotions about my daughter turning 10. T-E-N! Those ten years have flown by so quickly. I remember her long awaited arrival via 15 hour inducing. I can close my eyes and see her sweet little chunky body all curled up in the bassinet. It’s heart wrenching. 
The memories that we have made these past 10 years are rich. We’ve moved a few times and vacationed even more.
This year she started playing sports. It’s been so fun to cheer her on and watch her grow in endurance and skill. She’s smart…very smart. She zipped right thru the Harry Potter books and is now looking for more book series to enjoy.
This double digits number has been so hard to swallow. She’s maturing into a pre teen…full of attitude and spunk. She’s not into little girl things anymore and doesn’t want me saying she looks “cute!” She’s becoming more independent then I like and I probably put more on her then she needs.
I think about what the next five years will be like. I mourn the naive little girl that will likely find out that Santa is not real, and neither is the tooth fairy. I am sad when I think about the heart ache that lies ahead. The girl drama that is sure to come, and the changes that her body will soon go thru. I am just NOT ready. Infact, I am weepy. I cry when I think about how she is going into the 5th grade next year…this year…in a few months actually. It’s just TOO SOON!
The irony is that when she was little I couldn’t wait for her to do the “next thing!” I wanted her to roll over, sit up, crawl and walk…now I want it to all stop. I want her to stay little. I want her to enjoy the magic of childhood and the innocence that surrounds it.
Hold on to your babies, hug them tightly. Enjoy EVERY single second and NEVER take life for granted. You will blink and that baby will be 10 years old. Make memories that will last a life time, take videos and pictures.
We love Chloe Bear. I will always remember her as the chunky baby that was my baby’s first best friend!
