Getting ready to go back to school is time consuming to say the least. The new school supplies, clothes, shoes, backpacks and more. It’s a lot of work. Not to mention making appoints for physicals and getting immunizations. It’s not always convenient to wait at a Dr. office to get this.
Walgreens has made this easier then ever and you can pay it forward at the same time! When your kids get their school immunization at Walgreens you are helping them Give a Shot to a child in need. School immunizations, like whooping cough or meningitis are a few of the ones that help give life saving vaccines to a child in a developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.
My girls are up to date (for now) but with their giving hearts, I know that they would choose to participate in this life saving campaign to pay it forward. Here are a few tips on preparing your kids for shots:
- Remain calm, if you are anxious about it, they will be as well.
- Be matter of fact, it’s part of preventative health care
- Be sympathetic, tell them you had them as a child as well.
- Offer a distraction to them while they are getting the shot
- Offer a small treat for being brave after the shot is all over
Paying it forward to help those who are less fortunate is such a blessing. I am thankful to pass on this information about Walgreens partnership with Shot@Life. Please consider using their clinic for your back to school needs this year.
