This summer I wanted to issue a physical challenge for my 9 yr old. She loves playing on the iPad and I wanted to speak her language with some incentives that she would love. So this is what I came up with
She will earn 1 “fit buck” for every 10k steps she does, with the max of two fit bucks a day. I am consistently getting around 13-15k myself and feel that 10k is very doable for her.
This is what she can cash her “fit bucks” in for:
- 20 for aqua surfing
- 20 for rock climbing
- 20 for roller skating
- 20 for movie with friend
- 10 for 1 on 1 bike ride
- 10 for movie
- 5 for one on one swimming
*We do not discuss weight in pounds with our girls. Infact, we spend a great deal of time talking about making healthy choices. Chloe indicated to me that she didn’t like the scale going up this year and wanted to see it go down. I know this has MORE to do with behaviors that she sees from me then anything else. Chloe loves a challenge, so I took this on as something fun that she can do for the summer. I am hoping that she will think more before downing treats and will move more vs sitting on the ipad. She currently weighs 90 lbs and wants to weigh around 75. I do not encourage numbers as pounds lost, rather I encourage steps moved as a goal.
