I love to cook with my girls and weeks are great for that! I was recently told about Safeway.com’s awesome recipe box! I logged right in and searched for a recipe that I could make with my girls (no cooking needed) and found this awesome recipe for Banana Pudding IV. The website was super easy to navigate! The reviews looked great and I love that it calls for 3 cups of milk, as that is a sneaky way to get more dairy in my kiddos! I printed the page and took it with me to the store.

Did you know that June is National Dairy Month? So off to Tom Thumb, a Safeway store, we went! Most of the ingredients were found in the dairy section. Have you ever noticed just how many products are in that area? I often go for the lowest price and it’s fairly easy to spot the store brand, but felt this was a little more challenging as Tom Thumb’s products are not at eye level. I grabbed a gallon of milk, brick of cream cheese, tub of cool whip, then was off to the baking and cookie isles to grab the sweet and condensed milk, pudding, and wafers. On our way to the registerwe grabbed bananas!

My oldest helped me measure out the milk while my middle child lined the 9 x 13 pan with vanilla wafers topped with banana slices. My youngest was great at sneaking the vanilla wafers and running off to eat them!

We mixed the cream cheese with a hand mixer to get it softened, then added half of the cool whip, the can of sweet and condensed milk, 3 cups of milk and the pudding mix. We mixed until well blended, then poured over the bananas and cookies. I crumbled somecookies on top to make it look pretty, then into the fridge it went.

We took this to a friends house for a cookout. It held up great and was a HUGE hit at the party. There was NONE left and I felt like it was a special treat in two ways. I am making memories with my kids of cooking together in the kitchen, and of course my tummy loved the flavors!

Upon leaving the party, my friend asked for the recipe and I knew right were to get it forher…but instead of cutting and pasting it in an email…I noticed that there is a “Email friend” button under it for quick and easy emailing! The only thing I would add if I could is a “Facebook share” button so that my Facebook friends could see the recipe as well!

  1. As I was unpacking my kitchen boxes this week (we moved house) I found a box of that same Jello mix and was wondering what to make with it. I’m going to try this. Thank you.
