Growing up in a small town was not just a fun memory, but something I often like to talk about with my kids! I remember singing and dancing on the cellar and helping my mom with dinner! I remember being in charge of making the sun tea! We would put tea bags in water and put it in the sun to make our tea for dinner! I loved making it…and loved drinking it even more!
To this day, I am still a big Lipton’s Iced tea drinker! Two of my three kiddos are also in love with tea! It’s an easy way to change up a meal and offer drink options! And I feel like it’s super refreshing! It’s our go to choice on nights that we don’t want milk or water! I love that it’s not a sugary drink and it’s great for the whole family! (We do add Splenda sometimes…buy hey… we live in Texas and sweet tea is a must!) In an effort to create memories with my kids, we have a “High-Low” conversation every night at dinner. We talk about our high of the day and what went really well…then we also talk about our lows and what we wish would have gone better. We do this every night and I love that we can connect at dinner!
My 10 yr old makes the iced tea for us! She simply puts the tea bags in water and microwaves them until they are done! She pours over ice water and BAM…we have fresh iced tea!
I hope that my girls hold onto family traditions like I have. They bring me comfort! There isn’t a time that I have drank Iced Tea that I didn’t think about my childhood…and singing and dancing with my sister outside!
Do you have memories tied to certain foods or drinks? Are those items part of a family tradition now?
