The Colony, TX is the home to a new Studio Movie Grill theater. If you’ve never been to a Studio Move Grill before the appeal of it is that you can have dinner …while you watch your movie!
The lobby is very modern and you can choose to purchase your tickets at the self-serve counters or at the ticket window. If you’re waiting for friends to join you, there are couches and chairs to relax in where you can also order a drink at the bar, to enjoy prior to your movie.
The seats are set up like a regular theater, but with much cushier seating. Each chair has a
built-in tray table. Before the movie starts you’ll receive a menu so that you can peruse it and when you have decided what you want to eat a server will take your order. There is a call button on the front bottom of the chairs, so any time during the movie that you would like something (refills, popcorn, dessert, etc.), you just press that button and your server will come.
One might think that with a full theater and servers coming and going bringing food and drinks
to everybody that you may have issues seeing the screen. However, the servers are great at what they do and distractions to your viewing experience are minimal.
You’ll find a variety of menu items to choose from, with entrée prices comparable to a dine in
casual restaurant. I chose the Steak ‘N Gravy Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries while my husband ordered the Classic American Burger with Seasoned French Fries.
Parents in the area will really like this location for date nights. When you’re paying a babysitter, being able to combine dinner with your movie can help keep costs down. It’s also wonderful for those wanting an evening out who work later but don’t want to be out all night by having to catch a late showing or eating after the movie. Or if don’t want to have to watch the time, if you usually chose to dine out before a show. For so many reasons it’s just convenient to have both at once.
