This week is Nurse Appreciation Week and I have partnered with Pampers Swaddlers on this #ThankYouNurses campaign to thank a nurse! This project is near and dear to my heart! Nurses play very important roles during the first few minutes, hours and days between newborns and their parents. When we adopted our little guy, our NICU nurse, Ruth, was the one who gave us wings and confidence to take care of the little 5 lb baby. She showed us how to feed him and gave us as much information on him that she could. It was her hands that place him in ours. That is a day I will never forget! I was so excited and honored to be able to thank her thru this campaign. We brought the nurses lunch, some yummy chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements, and left them with some Redbox codes and popcorn for their day off. We purchased Ruth a James Avery charm bracelet, and some flowers. Saying “Thank You” felt so great.

Everyday nurses go into work and do their jobs…many times without a “thank you!” They get told a lot of what they aren’t doing and I am sure it can feel like a thankless job at times. This is why I love that Pampers in partnership with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), honors nurses across three award categories: Labor & delivery, NICU and Postpartum thru the Thank You Nurses campaign.

To celebrate National Nurse Appreciation Week in May, Pampers Swaddlers is announcing a grand prize nurse honoree to acknowledge her dedication and commitment to making life better for babies and new parents. The grand prize honoree will be featured in an upcoming Pampers advertisement placed with AWHONN.

Labor & Delivery nurse, Anne Gallagher, was selected as the Pampers Swaddlers #ThankYouNurses Award Grand Prize honoree! Anne has been a nurse for 38 years and is currently a nurse at University of Illinois Hospital. She focuses on empowering moms to form special bonds with their newborns. Check out her incredible story here.

The first few hours and days of a babies life are beyond precious. Nurses are great at teaching new moms how to change a diaper, provide the best care for baby, and theyhelp foster a bond of trust that transcends the hospital experience. I remember when my oldest was born, the doctor was busy finishing up everything with me while the nurse was posing Chloe for pictures. The nurse was the one who told me what she weighed, how long she was, and helped me feel confident about breast feeding her.  When my 2nd came along, it was the nurse who stood behind me and talked me thru labor while we waited on the dr. And when Maci was born via c-section, a team of nurses took care of us. One attended to me, while the other made sure Steve got to hold her and took pictures of everything. Nurses are just very special and empowering. Just as parents trust their nurses to teach them how to give babies the best start in life, nurses trust the softness and protection of Pampers Swaddlers. As the #1 choice for hospitals in the United States and the first diaper worn by millions of babies, Pampers Swaddlers helps give babies the best start in life. These are my favorite favorite diapers! Pampers Swaddlers wraps baby with comfort, protection and blanket-like softness, helping to take care of babies during all the precious first moments they share with their parents, and the months and years to come.
