Think back to when you became a mom for the first time… the joy, challenges and emotions that come along with motherhood might have felt overwhelming!
When I think back 12 years ago to when I was pregnant and on my way to becoming a first time mom, I recall so many fears and anxieties about the days ahead. I remember loving being pregnant, but being scared to death to deliver my baby girl. I recall loving my OB until the last few weeks of pregnancy then thinking he was trying to torture me somehow by making me wait longer to deliver. (I liked him again after she was born, haha!)
I remember wondering what she would look like, if I was going to be able to breast feed effectively. I remember worrying about if she would want me to hold and snuggle her or if she would be too independent. So many emotions were surrounding her birth. We think we are going to teach our kids so much about life and in turn they teach US how to grow, learn, and love more than we have ever imagined.
Most of my friends are two, three, or even four kids into motherhood, so when I was challenged with a grant from Pampers to bless a new mom, I was super excited. There are so many things that first time moms need! My youngest daughter, Maci, is in 2nd grade and her teacher is due ANY day now. (They are taking her little guy next week if she doesn’t go into labor on her own!) I was so excited to be able to bless Hannah with items on her registry. She didn’t have her carseat/stroller combo and that is SUPER important!
The kids were out of school for a teacher workday, and so we loaded up and went to Babies R Us where we cleared her registry! We loaded up the cart with Pampers diapers, wipes, cutes little outfits, blankets, bibs, and other miscellaneous items. We snuck into her room and set it all up and then waited for her to arrive! (A huge shout out to a few teachers who helped me pull this off!)
Some of my favorite items that I was able to pick up for her include:
- Pampers Swaddlers…they are SOOO soft! It was fun to buy all different sizes and styles and tell her all about what diaper styles we used at what stages!!
- A KEEP “mom” bracelet, made especially for her with Aggie colors!
- A few personalized items from Etsy such as burp clothes, and onesie!
- The Nose Freida… it’s been a life saver for us!
- Her travel system as it has some really cool features!
- and last a ginormous box of Pampers wipes… we go thru so many every day! Love them!
