I was born and raised in church. I witnessed my great grandma loving her friends well, my grandma loving me and my siblings well. I learned about love from a lot of places. It wasn’t until I was well in my 30’s that I figured out how I am called to love.
My hubby and I went thru a marriage study called ReEngage at church. The first time we went thru the study I focused on love in marriage. The second time we went thru the study, I focused on love in friendships, family and in life in general. It was a few years back but I really felt like I was able to make MY thoughts on love, mine.
Learning to let go of how we think others want us to love or live life is not easy. We will probably disappoint some and upset others, but in the end we will be living OUR own life.
Learning to love the lovey is EASY, it’s learning to love the unlovely that is hard. Loving those who don’t think like us, act like us or believe like us. As a believer in Christ, I think Jesus set the example for us in this. He ate with sinners, hung out with sinners. He didn’t judge, he loved. He restored.
In a world that is full of hate and ready to tear people to shreds and judge, I challenge you to be LOVE, to give LOVE.
