Traveling with a Newborn can be stressful! Recently, we made a road trip to my grandma’s house, 3 hours away. I knew we were staying 3-4 days and needed to plan accordingly. Packing for myself and my three daughters has became a fairly easy process. In fact, the girls pretty much pack themselves now. When thinking about the list of things I would need to pack for the baby, I felt stressed. Here are a few things on my packing list and how I packed them:
1.) Diapers/Wipes
2.) Bottles/Formula
3.) Bibs, Burp Clothes
4.) Clothes/pajamas
Doesn’t seem like that long of a list, but when you are planning for a trip, it’s more then you think! I packed a new package of diapers and wipes…knowing that I can also buy more if I run out. Walmart/Target is never far away! We have about 10 bottles, but I didn’t want to bring them all. I packed 6 in a large ziploc and two more in the diaper bag. I also packed the bottle brush and dishwasher basket. I brought a new tub of formula, knowing that I can easily get 4 days out of it. I brought three bibs per day, and a burp clothe. I know I can wash at grandmas…but then I would also need to pack Dreft. I chose an outfit per day and a pair of jammies for each night, plus one extra incase we have a blow out. I pack all of the baby stuff in a laundry basket. I find it easier to grab what I need if it is in an open basket.
The biggest tip I can give for traveling with a baby is that you need to leave RIGHT after they eat. This should give you 2-4 hours of driving time before you need to stop and feed them again. We have had great luck with our baby sleeping on long car rides, thanks to a full tummy!
