I have struggled for a long time with the whole car seats and coats ordeal. Not because I have my kids wear coats in the car, but rather because I want them to be warm. I personally wear my coat in the car, unless it’s a long trip and then I don’t. I understand why wearing a coat while in a infant seat would be tough, and how it could be unsafe. I wonder if there is any work around on this. Maybe if the straps are pulled super tight, it would be okay? Perhaps if it’s a short trip of 10 minutes or less, it would be okay? I’m just not sure. My older three are out of the little seats, and currently my baby is covered by a blanket.
Thankfully in Texas we don’t have to worry about super cold weather too often. In other states this is a big deal. When buying a car, check to see if it has rear air controls. Having heater access via vents in the rear part of your car will help you feel at ease with your kids not wearing coats. Keeping warm blankets in your car is also a great idea. I love to have my kids wear hats, earmuffs and gloves as a means to help keep body heat in. Scarves would help as well.
Thompson Chrysler Jeep has a lot of options that will give you peace of mind. Personally, I own a Chrysler Town and Country and we love it. The kids can control their own air or heater and everyone has plenty of space to stretch out.
