Everybody loves to visit and explore the ecology of forests. Well, maybe not everybody. (Check out other travel posts I’ve done for other ideas!) But at least I am sure YOU love exploring forests, or you are right now looking forward to having a family trip there; otherwise you would not be reading this! So, what entails the preparations for such an outing? What do you carry with you? Here are a few of the best tips we compiled to help you plan for your trip:

1) Be Sure to Pick the Right Activity in the Right Location. It’s important to make a previous choice for the most appropriate day for your visit – remember to check out the weather forecast, make sure you won’t be disturbed by phone calls from work or other circumstances. It should be a day off for you and your family to relax! Make plans for your activities there. You may even consider finding past trails and campsites in order to know what to expect as well as to make your trip much easier and manageable on the actual day.

2) Consider Any Costs Involved. Despite the fact that nature has given us most forests and recreational areas free of charge, these places need to be conserved and protected. That’s why sometimes you might be charged a nominal fee at the entry. Other costs and expenses that you need to take into account will obviously be associated with your transportation, accommodation, refreshments, entertainment, and any other emerging issues. Remember that you can save on many products with the use of promo codes, for instance, online coupons for Nordstrom are sure to let you get huge discounts on all your clothes shopping!

3) What to Carry with You. Some of the most important factors to consider when making plans for your packing list include the weather; the social amenities around your target tour area; the presence of insects and bugs in the area; the accessibility of the area. With all these in mind, you should put in your backpack the following:

– Mosquito (other bug/insect) repellent;

– A travel-size first-aid kit in case of a medical emergency;

– A map of the tour area to easily navigate around;

– Emergency forest service or police contacts;

– A poncho for repelling water in case of a downpour;

4) Other Important Items. Before you leave for the forest, there are other items you can pack into your bag in order to enhance your experience there even further. They include, but are not limited to, the following: light-weight field pants, water-resistant shoes, hiking socks, plenty of drinking water, appropriate snacks like fruits or trail mix, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, a light-weight rain jacket, a hand fan to chase annoying insects and definitely a camera to capture your best moments!

5) Some Rules to Adhere to: In the process of enjoying the gifts of nature that a forest offers you, you should also be mindful of nature. Successful conservation of its ecosystem depends on your actions and efforts. Some of the rules you should follow in order to do this include:

– Do not disturb the forest’s ecosystem unnecessarily;

– Do not feed animals your food – they have their own, natural;

– Never leave campsite fires unattended;

– Always seek guidance whenever you are not sure of anything;

– Finally, leave the forest as natural as you found it!
