I was so excited when I heard that Pine Cove Camp in the City was coming to my church. I couldn’t wait to register my girls and made sure to wait and make our summer travel plans around that week. I had heard great things about Pine Cove and the Camp in the City was sounding a lot like a very active fun week.
I signed my kids up and began looking at the weeks events. As the months slowly passed, I grew more and more excited about the things that they would get to experience. The physical activity, friends, and spiritual growth were all thing I looked forward to hearing about.
As I drove the girls there the first day, chills came over my body as we pulled into the parking lot. There were tons of staff members out by the entrance cheering us in and welcoming us. They were singing and dancing and full of energy. I cried. I knew my girls were going to have a great week and make memories that would last a lifetime.
As each day came and went, I grew more and more excited hearing all about their adventures. They LOVED it! When they got in the van, they would explode telling me everything that unfolded through out the day. I had to slow them down so I could hear from each one individually.
The highlight for me happened the last day. I went to pick up the girls and knew they would have a little video for the parents to watch. We loved seeing pictures of the week all put into one slide show…and they gave each kid a copy of the DVD as well. I got to hear the counselors exhort my girls. They said the sweetest things about each of my girls and when I got to the oldest, Chloe….I cried. Her counselor, Lexi began crying as she shared how Chloe asked Jesus into her heart. This is something that we have been talking thru and praying about for a while. I love that Chloe felt confident to step forward at Camp in the City and take the big step! What a proud moment for me!
We are so excited that we are going to be attending Pine Cove Family Camp this summer. I am so excited about it! The family fun activities, the parents night outs and so much more have been counting down the days… no really…as of today we have 316 more days!
