I’ve traveled a bit over the past week or two and it’s been fun and relaxing, mostly.
Recently I was in a hotel room by myself and FINALLY was able to relax enough to do my *business*. (Why is it that our bodies process differently while we travel?) Thankfully I was not sharing a hotel room with anyone!
Well, it was fine until I went to FLUSH! And the toilet gurgled and made a strange sound. The water started raising to that “Oh CRAP” level and I panic’d. I didn’t want to flush again out of fear that the floor would get flooded, but I didn’t want it to run over either. I stood there for what felt like hours PRAYING it would stop rising. I begged and pleaded it to go down… to no avail. I was smart enough to NOT stick my hand in there and of course there is NO plunger hiding in the corner near by. I searched for a fan to help clear the air at least… not one of those either! ARGH!
I then had a lightbulb moment on what to do… I turned the light off and shut the door, as if that would somehow make it all disappear. I walked calmly over to the phone and called the front desk. I was put on hold for what felt like 10 minutes. I reported the mystery problem as if it had just come about…without my doing.
Five minutes later, the nicest guy with the crappiest job (pun intended) knocked. My knight in shining armor. I gave him my please help me, but don’t ever tell a soul look and he went right to work. Poor thing does this all day.
So this is what you do if your hotel toilet gets clogged:
1.) Pray
2.) Pray some more
3.) Call the front desk and ask for help
4.) Blame it on your hubby if he is with you
5.) Let the professionals take care of it
6.) Pray the professional forgets your face
