We got to review a new book set that I think you will love hearing about, called The Tacky Box! Choose between “Margo’s Magnificent Choice” or “Max’s Magnificent Choice.” These books are perfect for helping teach your little ones about Tacky Words. I love that they have a box to lock up their tacky words in.
I gathered my girls, and read the book aloud. The book is about an adorable monkey who learns that Tacky Words do not help one make or keep friends. As the story unfolds, Margo learns that words that she hears and repeats aren’t always good words to be using. She learns to lock them up in her Tacky Box and not use them again.
My girls couldn’t wait to decorate their own Tacky Box and put words into it. My 5 yr old put in words like “stupid” “butt” “shut up” where my 7 yr old put in words like “I don’t like you” “You’re not my friend.” My 8 yr old shocked me beyond what I was expecting. She had just heard a word that NO kid should know… (learned it from a Youtube video that she watched at a friends house.) I loved that the girls knew what words did not need to be repeated and were willing to lock them up. I had a side conversation with my 8 yr old about her word. It wasn’t a conversation to have in front of the little ones. (Be prepared to be a little shocked by the stuff they come up with!)
