I am not one to sit and “watch” the game. I’m too social to sit still that long! My family was invited over to a friends house for a fun party! Each family (3 total) were in charge of bringing different items. I brought fruits, veggies, apple pies, and appetizers filled with BACON! This was perfect for me because I needed high protein foods. Meat is full of protein and I really wanted to stick to my “diet” during this game. I saw a stat that most people eat 4200 calories during the game. WOW!
Saturday, I went to Market Street, a local store that carries very fresh foods. I took my shopping buddy, Chloe, with me. She loves to help me shop and I love to teach her about shopping. I had my shopping list in the notes of my iPhone and she read off each item as we added it to the basket. We grabbed jalapenos, lil smokies, cream cheese, and headed over to the bacon isle. I grabbed a package of Petit Jean bacon, the official bacon of the Dallas Cowboys. I love the packaging. I love that you can SEE the bacon. I like to know what I am buying. I hate when I can’t see it and get home just to find out I paid for all white fat…so frustrating. I’ve never bought Petit Jean that I wasn’t happy with. You see what you get! Love that. The Dallas Cowboys Logo…(the star) will lead you right to this bacon. The Hickory Smoked is my favorite.
For the two appetizers that I made, I kept them simple…and only needed three ingredients for each:
Bacon Wrapped Smokies
2 packages of Lil Smokies
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1 package of Petit Jean Bacon
Cut bacon into thirds, and wrap little smokies, placed on foil lined baking sheet and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake at 425 for 30-40 minutes. Take out when you see that the bacon is at the right crispness for your liking.

And now for the other SUPER YUMMY recipe! Bacon is so good…no matter how you make it!
Creamy Bacon wrapped Jalapenos
Wash and half jalapenos. Deseed, and fill with cream cheese.
Wrap with half a piece of Petit Jean Bacon and place in foil lined baking sheet. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes.
Each of these were a HIT, but the jalapenos were gone first! What did you make for the Super Bowl? Please share your yummy recipe ideas! I will say that I only used one package of bacon for both recipes. I love that the Petit Jean bacon goes a long way. You don’t pay a ton for a small amount.
